Today Mr Herry explained about our developmental booklet. If you don't know what it is, thank God, I don't too~ We have to go to the student desk to be able to get this booklet, fill it in, and submit it back. Then it's time for our assessment in singing Indonesia Pusaka.
My strength today is I think I sang the Indonesia Pusaka pretty well. Mr Herry said my pitching is good and I was not nervous. My God, I WAS! I was shaking from head to toe, it's just he didn't see it. And why did I have to go first and sang the whole song, when the rest can stop at verse 1?! My weakness was, I was so nervous I wanted to go to the toilet back and forth.
Next, I think.. prepare for next term! I should be better!!!!
PS: it's so ironic that my reflection this term has to end in number #13.. is this a bad sign? I hope not..

Music Reflection #12
1 September 2009
Today is my assessment instrument playing. Some flute and some violin. Then Mr. Herry told us about our term test which is to sing 'Indonesia Pusaka'.
My strength today is I actually did my assessment and I think it turned out pretty nicely. Big hooray for that! My weakness is, I got bored, again. This boredom has become a routine in class. Music class should be interesting, it provides time for us to explore and express ourselved through music.
Next, I will prepare myself for the term test singing Indonesia Pusaka.

Today is our playing instrument assessment. We're going to be assessed according to 4 criterias; posture, expression, overall performance. I think a lot of my friends did very well.
My strength today is I listened to all the performances and rated them in my head. My weakness is I'm not confident enough to play my instrument because I can't play it properly yet. Luckily, my assessment is postponed until next class.
Next, I practice my flute so that I will be more confident next class.

Today Mr. Herry taught us how to put the reflection in the blog and how to make a blog. Also we practiced for the music assessment, instrument playing performance next week.
My strength today is I actually listened in class and didn't end up doodling in my music book. My weakness is that I still can't play the flute properly, due to lack of practice, due to my bad time management.
Next, I will practice harder to play flute so I won't make fun of myself in the assessment.

Today we presented about Pop vs Classical. The first one to present was Jennifer's group, next is Bernard's, then Jacintha's, last is mine. Some are very interesting. We need to prepare it better because the slide background and the font is hard to read.
My strength in the presentation is that we have live music playing. The weakness of our presentation is that it's hard to read because the font and the background colour is the same.
Next, I will practice my flute technique to be able to play in the instrument playing assessment. This is hard.

Today we started singing 'Hari Merdeka' by H. Mutahar. Then we received the sheet of 'Berkibarlah Benderaku'. Last, we have to make a melody with chords.
My strength today is I finished my melody in 5 minutes. My weakness is I didn't really pay attention to the class, because I was bored. Luckily, I didn't miss a thing.
Next, I will copy my melody in the nicer paper and submit it next class.

Today in music theory class, we submitted our homework about classical music composer. Then we wrote down about the homework presentation about classical music vs. pop music. Then we divided ourselves into 4 groups.
My strength today is I finished the task on time. My weakness I think is I rushed my task booklet, due to poor time management. Thus, I won't get a high mark for this. People learn from mistakes.
Anyways, next, I'm gonna keep track with my group for the presentation, and we're gonna do good next week!

Today in music theory class, we learned about patriotic songs for the Independence Day of Indonesia. We learned the song 'Hari Merdeka' by H. Mutahar. Then we sing the song together. Last, we learned about major and minor scales.
My strength this class, I already know about major and minor scales, so that's no problem for me. I also know the songs by heart, so that's not a problem either. My weakness is, I got bored. I really need to find a way to keep myself interested in the subject.
Next, I will do my best to practice the song we learned today and practice differentiating major and minor scales.

Today we submitted the homework about pop musician biography. Then Mr. Herry asked questions about the musician. After that we chose classical composers for biography, next week's homework.
My strength today is I submitted my work on time, and I think I did pretty well on my report. My weakness is, I got bored.. again.. This is not interesting for me, somehow. I should be glad because I like music.
Next, I will do my paper on classical composer, Strauss, whoever that is.. and submit it next week.

Today we select the artist for the biography. Then we learned about the F cleft and G cleft and the positionings of the notes. Then we write it down in our music notebooks.
My strength today is I already know the music theory. My weakness is, I got bored. again. I think this is bad, I need to find a way to keep me awake during class.
Next, I will do my paper on the pop musician I chose, Anggun C. Sasmi and submit it on time next class.

Today we presented our research project about pop music and answer questions about the presentation. Then our homework is to find and make biographies of pop artists. Last, we sang 'Heal the World' (again!) for tomorrow's assessment.
My strength today is I submitted my task ontime, which is really rare for me due to my lack of time management. My weakness is that I got bored in class because we keep on singing Heal the World when I already memorized it by heart.
Next, I will practice Heal the World for the assessment and make the biography of pop artist.

Today we divided the instrument classes again and watch Mr. John Legoh play guitar. He played the songs 'One Minute Samba', 'Tak Gendong', 'Tears in Heaven', etc. We also sang 'Heal the World' per instrument class.
My strength today.. I think I'm being a risk taker because I am going to join the woodwind class instead of taking an instrument class that I can already play. My weakness is, I'm not sure if I actually have the time and money to practice the instrument and buy the instrument.
Next, I will buy my instrument --> flute and I will practice hard to be able to play it.

Today we had our 1st music class. We were divided into 4 instrument classes. I wanted to try woodwind because I already know how to play the other 3 instruments. We also had to write our essential agreement. Last, we learned the song 'Heal the World' by Michael Jackson.
I think I learned the song pretty fast and it's an easy song. My weakness is that I'm not sure if I can obey the essential agreement.
Next, I will learn how to sing the song at home, to prepare for the upcoming assessment.
